East Ayrshire moves towards real-time financial control with
Civica financials suite
Council to meet efficiency agenda targets with
integrated financial management platform

Civica is helping East Ayrshire Council to deliver real-time financial control through a new £250,000 programme to install the company’s Authority Financials suite.

In a phased implementation due for completion by next summer, Civica will install its latest Authority Financials general ledger, creditors, debtors and legal debt recovery. These systems, designed specifically for the local government market, will be installed alongside Civica’s existing Revenues and Benefits products to build an integrated Authority Financials platform.

The new Civica financial system will deliver both improved electronic processes and longer term cost efficiencies under the government’s modernisation agenda. The system will replace the functions of the council’s existing enterprise resource planning (ERP)-based financial product.

Once completed, the integrated financial system will enable all authorised departmental managers and budget holders to gain a real time overview of the council’s finances as a whole or their own cost centre’s operations as appropriate.

Robin Baker, financial controller for East Ayrshire Council, said, “The new financial platform is part of our drive for continuous improvement. While addressing the government’s wider efficiency agenda, the new system will deliver better financial management across our different departments. We’re pleased with the product quality and technical support from Civica over the years and it made sense to bring together the different financial systems in one place.”

In addition to administering key services for 124,000 local residents more effectively, different transactions between council departments will be delivered more efficiently. Specific tasks such as recovery of fines and sundry debts levied by the council will now be administered electronically and more effectively with reduced manual intervention.
