Chester-le-Street implements Electronic Document Management from Comino
Chester-le-Street District Council is eliminating the paper-chase and helping to exceed targets with the implementation of Electronic Document Management (EDM) and Workflow from Comino in its Revenues and Benefits departments.

The DWP-funded project is expected to help streamline council processes and improve customer services by increasing the speed at which claims and enquiries are actioned.  Comino was selected following a straightforward tendering process due to its reputation and proven expertise in the industry.

“We currently have about 50 filing cabinets holding all of our departmental data and the implementation of this solution will enable us to clear a lot of space, hopefully improving our working environment,” comments Jayne Henderson, Revenues and Benefits manager at Chester-le-Street.  “We didn’t have a proper system before this and a lot of time was wasted looking through files trying to get hold of the relevant data.  The new system will also improve the security of customers’ documents.

“We have embarked on a new phase of procedures following targets set by the Government, and Comino has aided this process with a smooth implementation and ‘train the trainer’ exercise.  We are delighted with how well it has gone.”

The solution is currently in place for 35 users and is due to go live on the 3rd April 2006.
